The client
The client: the BaSys group and Zooloox
Zooloox is backed by BaSys. Founded in 1990 and specializing in premium audio and electronics distribution, the group has operated in Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic from the start. BaSys is the exclusive Hungarian distributor of brands including Pioneer DJ, Bose, Behringer, beyerdynamic, Midas and Tannoy.
zooloox.hu is the group’s new webshop, carrying more than 40 brands, from DJ and studio gear through pro audio and headphones to car audio. The headquarters in Törökbálint also houses a showroom and a service drop-off point.

The challenge
New brand, legacy catalog, four countries
BaSys’s previous webshops run on Magento 1, which is no longer supported. The new Zooloox webshop had to deliver a modern, fast, mobile-friendly frontend, take over a catalog of several thousand products and serve four stores (Hungarian, Slovak, Czech and English, in forints, euros and korunas), all at the same time.
A distributor also has specific needs: handling end-of-life (EOL) and outlet products, delivery times calculated from stock across multiple warehouses, and user manuals even for products that are no longer sold.
The solution
Takeover, migration, Hyvä frontend
In July 2025 we took over a half-finished Magento 2 project and cleaned up the codebase, the modules and the environments (development, staging and production, with Git-based deployment). We then delivered the project in three phases: platform and core modules, product import and integrations, and finally acceptance testing by the client.
The new store went live in early 2026, and we have been developing it further under a monthly support plan ever since.

Magento 1 to Magento 2 data migration
We used the Magento Data Migration Tool to move products with their images, categories, attributes, stock and URL redirects. After the migration we restored the group structure of 62 attribute sets, cleaned up duplicate options and restored the media gallery records, so filters and product pages work flawlessly.
Hyvä frontend and Algolia search
The Hyvä theme was built from the client’s own designs: a mega menu, mobile and desktop product and category pages with galleries and video tabs, an Ajax cart, a one-page checkout, and language, currency and country switchers. The brand module gives every manufacturer its own page and subcategories.
Algolia provides instant search and a results page with list and grid views and sorting. Filtering is supported by Mirasvit layered navigation and infinite scroll, and the stock status of end-of-life products is shown in search according to the defined rules.

Managing outlet and end-of-life products
Open-box, serviced and demo products appear in the outlet category, grouped under their base product, with a condition label and editable warranty text. A monthly automation moves end-of-life products into an archive category when they are out of stock in every country and have no outlet units. Since October 2026, both archiving and restoring are possible.
Stock-based delivery times and custom features
- Estimated delivery time per country based on warehouse stock (“ships immediately” or “5–8 business days, external warehouse”), updated automatically once orders are reserved.
- User manual finder that also finds documents for products no longer sold.
- Wishlist and product comparison for guests too, synced across browser tabs; the guest list is kept on login.
- Abandoned cart emails, social login and the Árukereső “Trusted Shop” badge.

Payments, shipping and ongoing operations
We built custom Barion payment and MPL shipping modules, and in May 2026 GLS and Packeta shipping went live as well. Since launch we have been developing the store under a monthly support plan: security updates, product, stock and price imports, Slovak and Czech translations, and new features such as archiving.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How do you handle a Magento 1 to Magento 2 migration for a catalog of thousands of products without losing URLs?
For Zooloox, we used the Magento Data Migration Tool to move products, categories, attributes and URL redirects, then restored the structure of 62 attribute sets and the media gallery.
Can one Magento installation serve Hungarian, Slovak, Czech and English stores in different currencies?
Yes. Zooloox's four stores run on a single Magento 2 system in forints, euros and korunas, each with its own language and country-specific delivery times.
Can you take over an unfinished Magento 2 project from another developer?
Yes. In July 2025 we took over a half-finished Magento 2 project: we cleaned up the modules and environments, introduced Git-based deployment, and then launched the store in three phases.
How can a webshop show real delivery times based on multiple warehouses?
In the Zooloox store, delivery times are calculated per country from warehouse stock and update automatically once orders are reserved.
What is the best way to handle end-of-life and open-box products in a webshop?
With an outlet category, condition labels and warranty text, plus automatic archiving that moves end-of-life products unavailable everywhere into an archive category and can restore them when needed.
